The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) publishes updated crime data daily at mpdc.dc.gov/dailycrime. Additionally, MPD publishes carjacking-specific data at mpdc.dc.gov/page/carjacking.

MPD Mark43/Data Warehouse system data as of 8/27/2025. FileOnQ as of 8/27/2025.
*DC Index Crimes are defined as Homicide, Sex Abuse (First and Second Degree only), Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, Robbery, Burglary, Motor Vehicle Theft, Theft from Auto, Theft, and Arson. A police report containing multiple DC Index Crime offenses will be counted as only the first occurring offense in the hierarchy of the previous sentence. Counts capture MPD offenses only and are based on report date, with the exception of Homicides, which are based on the date declared. These numbers do not reflect Part I crime totals as reported to the FBI’s Uniform Crime Reporting program or National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS). This report should be considered ‘Preliminary’ in nature due to ongoing data validation procedures. The numbers provided are subject to change as we move forward with our validation process.
**Arrest Totals are based solely on the top arrest charge of the arrest event. Where the arrest event includes more than one arrest number, the top charge of the lowest arrest number in the arrest event is considered the top charge. One person may be booked on more than one arrest charge. Data available includes arrests made by MPD only in the District of Columbia, however, both datasets include arrests made with our federal partners (i.e., standing task forces in 2024, standing task forces + federal surge in 2025). This report should be considered ‘Preliminary’ in nature due to ongoing data validation procedures.
***Firearm recoveries are based on data entry into MPD’s evidence management system, FileOnQ. All firearms collected in the District of Columbia entered by MPD or DFS are included in these counts. These totals do not include firearms which are seized in response to an emergency protection order or for safekeeping. These counts are not comparable to other reports due to time of entry into the evidence management system.
