There is shelter space available for everyone who needs it. The District provides 24/7 shelter year-round, and District resources are available for all unsheltered individuals to come inside and access support. Individuals can call (202) 399-7093 or 311 to request free, accessible transportation to a shelter. Community members who see individuals in need of shelter can also call the Shelter Hotline to request services.

The Department of Behavioral Health also leads a Community Response Team (CRT), which is a 24/7 multidisciplinary direct service team that supports adults who are experiencing psychiatric emergencies, trauma, or show signs of mental health and substance use disorders.
Reach the Community Response Team any time by calling (202) 673-6495.
